The Kowhaiwhai Exhibition

Thank you so much to our wonderful group of parents who provided transport and helped us at the Suter Art Gallery when we went to the Kowhaiwhai Exhibition this afternoon.
We looked at the art work with the big eyes and tongue poking out. Look at our Pukana!

Esther is the teacher at the Suter. She told us all about how the artists had used Kowhaiwhai patterns in their paintings.

We all tried to copy some patterns from the paintings.

Esther told us a legend about how the manu brought light to the morning.
We acted out the legend.

We all had a manu to decorate with Kowhaiwhai patterns.
The parents encouraged and assisted us.
We used pastels.

The pictures were designed like a postage stamp from the 2015 Matariki collection.

Look at our finished artworks.
We are so proud!

Come and look at the display by our classroom door.
Thanks again parents. We couldn't have done it without you.

A Great Week

We have had three great days back at school.
We are learning to work together as a class.
We share, take turns and support each other.

Powhiri 2016

Thank you to the parents who came to the Powhiri this morning.
This is a special event that happens each each year to welcome new staff and new pupils.
Our class was also part of the Manuhiri and we were welcomed by the Tangata Whenua.
After the new staff had said their mihi, we sang a waiata.
Mr Brenton is wearing his korowai.

Our Busy First Day

Welcome to our first posting. What a great day we had today.
We read the big book "Grumpy Bear".
We did some super story writing to go with our paintings.
Mrs Eden was very proud of us.
