Book Week

This week for Book Week Ms Simpson is running a drawing competition. We have to draw a book character. Here are some entries from our class. On Friday we will come to school dressed as a book character.

Making Pyramids

We made some pyramids today.

 Jessica put some treasure in her pyramid before she sealed it up.

Sarcophogus and Cartouch

We have been doing some more activities for our Ancient Civilizations unit. The new words we have been learning are Sarcophogus and Cartouch. A sarcophogus was a big carved buriel box for the important people. A cartouch was an oval name plate attached to the sarcophogus. It had hieroglypics on it.
We are going to paint our cartouch.

Finger Knitting

When Mrs Eden was a little girl she loved finger knitting. Today she taught some of us to make finger knitting chains. We got really good at it.

Pop,Pop,Pop.

Today the Whales reading group read the book Pop,Pop,Pop. They made some popcorn for the classs. Yum,yum,yum!!

Today the Octopus Group read the story about making a glider. As a follow up activity they made paper planes and then they went outside to test them.

This morning Allanah came for a little visit. She is a very clever lady and her job is to go around some schools helping teachers to learn about embedding ICT or computer and ipad activities into their programme to make learning more interesting and effective for children.
She is Mrs Eden's friend as well and she has taught Mrs Eden heaps and heaps!
Today she came to show us a new piece of equipment she is testing and learning to use. It is called a Sphero. It is like a remote control and you use the ipad  to control the ball which is also called a sphere. Come back soon Allanah!

This afternoon when we were talking about the Emperors of Ancient China we made these lanterns. They were a source of light and decoration in Ancient times.

Today we learned about how the archaeologists studied the pictures on the urns to find out about life in Ancient Greece.

Pharoahs

Today we talked about the Pharoahs of Ancient Egypt. They build massive pyramids and tombs for themselves. They used slaves to do the hard work.
We made Pharoah head gear and put them on our photos.
