Discovery Time 27 March

Look at us collaborating and sharing ideas with the marble race.
Ruby took photos on the iPad and made a Pic Collage.

It was a lovely day to use our foam hopscotch out side.
Mrs Eden watched Sean discovering how he could play by hopping backwards.

We used the play money to make a shop. We had turns at being the shop keeper.

Poppie and Sophie shared ideas about this large jigsaw.
Great work Christopher.
Dylan spent a long time discovering what he could build with these bottle tops.
William built this city.

The Nelson Boulder Bank

On Sunday Mrs Eden, Mrs Robinson and Mrs Bensemann walked the Nelson Boulder Bank. We walked for three hours enjoying the beautiful sunshine and wonderful scenery.
We saw the shags nesting in this tree. They were feeding their little chicks.

We were invited to enter some of the baches that have been on the
Boulder Bank for many, many years.

A very kind man invited the three of us to have a cup of coffee at his bach. He told us some interesting history about the area.
This is the Nelson lighthouse. We were allowed to enter and have a look if we wanted to.
At the end of our walk we were taken back across the harbour by catamaran.
It was a really great day. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful place to walk in Nelson.

Popplet

Tayla and Grace learnt to make a Popplet today.

Places In Nelson

Poppie went with her parents to have a look at many places in Nelson. They took some photos. Have a look at the ones on our classroom wall. Here are three places they visited. Thank you Mum and Dad. What a lovely day you had.

Kahn and Tavian Learnt To Use Pic Collage

 Well done Tavian and Kahn.
You are able to help other children to use Pic Collage now.
At Reading time today the Sharks and Seahorse groups
had to read their books and do a painting about the main character in the story.
They then had to take a photo of their painting with the iPad.
Kahn and Tavian took these photos when they
were learning to use Pic Collage at Discovery Time.

Hockey With Jamie

Today we had our first session with Jamie to learn hockey skills. We are really looking forward to
seeing him again next week.

Discovery Time 20 March

Discovery Time 20 March

Today at Discovery Time our focus continued to be on the Key Competency "Relating To Others".
We had goals to work together, help each other, speak nicely, give compliments and encourage our friends to try new activities. Some of our activities today included duplo pattern boards, juggling with bean bags, soapy water activities, icing biscuits, craft table, card games and learning new ICT skills on the iPads.
Some things went really well, but in our reflections we did identify what we need to work on still.

The Seven Servants

Today we talked about the Seven Servants. These are question words we can use to find out more information about our Topic Work.... "Getting To Know Nelson."
Who, Where, When, Why, How, Which, What.
We looked at some pictures of Nelson.
We asked some questions.
Thank you to the parents who have been taking their children around some of the places we have identified in our homework sheet. We are so looking forward to our syndicate bus trip to visit many of these spots.

Massage

Today we revisited the Massage In Schools Programme. We really enjoyed massaging our friends and making them feel really happy.
