Happiness Is A Great Swim On A Hot Day

The Powhiri

At the beginning of each school year we have a Powhiri to welcome new staff and new pupils. Those of us who are only five are the Manuhiri and we are welcomed to Richmond School. Those of us who are six, have already been welcomed and we are Tangata whenua. Today we all took part in the Powhiri.

Here are the Manuhiri waiting outside the hall.
Mr Brenton is wearing his korowai. It was made many years ago by a Junior class at our school.
Here are the Tangata whenua singing a waiata.

This is Mr Higgins, one of our Deputy Principal's speaking.
These boys are accepting the koha from the Manuhiri.

Mr Brenton put the korowai on each of the new staff.

Our First Day Blog Post.

Our friend "Deefa" is so proud of the way we have started our first day at school. He wanted to be in the photos we have been taking with the ipads. Mrs Eden is proud of our photographers for today.
Here are some photos of us exploring our new classroom. It was a wet day so we had to have lunch inside.

This was our shared reading activity. Do you like our tigers?
